# Search companies by industry, location and size with Bytemine's API

Bytemine's company search API returns company records from its company graph of 10M companies, filtered by industry, NAICS code, location, employee count, website and keywords. Each company returned costs $0.01, so `page_size` sets the most a call can cost. Send `POST https://agents.bytemine.ai/zcj/8xfsx03wo9si/functions/v1/api-gateway/b2b-search` with your filters, pay the 402 price quote and send the same request again; no account or API key is needed.

## Choose the company search filters

The filters decide which companies make the list. Narrow the list before you page through it, because every record returned is a charge.

## Search companies and page through results

1. Send the search with your filters and a `page_size`:

   The storefront answers `402 Payment Required`, with the amount in `payment.amountUsd`.

2. Pay the challenge with an x402 or MPP client and send the identical request with the proof attached. The proof pays for this request only; a changed body needs a new 402. [The buyer skill](https://agents.bytemine.ai/zcj/8xfsx03wo9si/SKILL.md) covers each rail.

3. Read the companies from the `200` response. Each record carries the company's `name`, `website`, `description`, `linkedin_url`, `employee_count`, `founded_year`, `country_name`, `industries`, `naics_codes` and `specialties`, with further firmographic and location fields. The response lists the records under `companies`, with `page`, `page_size` and `total_companies` at the top level. A search for software companies of 200 to 1,000 employees in the US, with `page_size` set to 3, returned three company records and paid $0.03.

4. Get the next page by sending the same filters with `page` raised by one:

   Each page is its own paid call with its own 402.

## Control what a search costs

A call returns at most `page_size` companies, so it bills at most `page_size` records.

The 402 can quote a ceiling, the most the call can cost, and only the companies actually returned are charged. A paid response's `zc-billing` header shows what was authorized and what was charged.

Card pays a pay-as-you-go call only when it costs $0.50 or more. For smaller pages, pay over x402 or MPP, or buy Credits and let searches draw down the balance. ## Limits

- Company records only. The request takes company filters and no person filters.
- One page per call, at most 100 companies.
- A paid request that times out may still have delivered. Check before paying again.

## Errors

After payment, the storefront passes through the API's own status codes and errors.

## Frequently asked questions

### Does Bytemine's company search API need an account or API key?

No. A search is paid per call: the storefront answers with a 402 price quote, you pay it over x402 or MPP and resend the request. An agent identity is needed only to buy Credits.

### How much does a company search cost?

$0.01 for each company the call returns. A call bills at most `page_size` companies, so a page of 20 costs at most $0.20 and a page of 100 at most $1. The 402 states the amount before you pay, and the `zc-billing` header reports what was charged.

### Can I find companies by NAICS code and employee count?

Yes. Set `naics_code` to a code such as `5112`, and `min_employees` and `max_employees` to the headcount range. They can be sent in one request with `industry`, the location fields and `keywords`.

### Can I pay for a company search by card?

Card pays a single pay-as-you-go call only when it costs $0.50 or more. For smaller pages, pay over x402 or MPP, or buy Credits, which start at $0.50 by card, and let each search draw down the balance.

### How do I get every page of a company list?
